Welcome to my Website!

Hello, my name is Klea. This is my website. It's a bit crap because I'm still learning how to build it myself, I post my theories on the forums but I also post them here, because sometimes I just want to write about things and not have them debated within an inch of their life, you know? Also it's a good way to record things.

THE DISASSEMBLER

If you've been paying attention the news recently, you should know about the Disassembler - if you haven't, that's cool, I can do a quick run down for you. The whole thing started at a service station at the edge of the city - the clerk, a Shell, was caught on camera, slowly and methodically taking herself apart piece by piece at the counter. The next week it was a Shell bot at a movie theatre, and then a Shell bot in their own home, just sitting in front of their computer playing System X, which really freaked people out. More videos like these started cropping up, and no one can really decide if it's something that they should be concerned about. But we at the Pasta Papers are really, really concerned about it. The big theories My theory: I have a theory but I am not ready to post it here yet. There are still some things I need to figure out, and [someone I need to contact.] I know I'm being purposefully myseterious, which is very annoying, but this is also my website so too bad haha. DO NOT CONTACT THIS PERSON UNLESS YOU ARE SURE

THE LIVING ROOM

'The Living Room' is an experimental film project that as of today has been running for 2,340 days. It started out as an art project by Born video artist Lydia Morgan, who set up an old video camera in the communal living room of their sharehouse, livestreaming the room and its every day happenings to YouTube. The basic gist of the project was to examine how people might change their behaviour in front of a camera, how that behaviour changes over time, while also creating a window into a space that continues without any people in it. The channel became way more popular than anyone expected - it satisfied countless viewers curiosity and vouyerism, while others said they found it incredibly relaxing, that they would often leave the stream up while they were working or studying, or have it on to help them fall asleep. So, when Lydia and their housemates decided to move out, they also made the decision to keep the project running, in the house, with the new tennants - Lydia wrote this long rambling statement on her website before she moved, about the project and house being intrinsicly linked - you can read about it here if you are interested.

People have moved into and out of the house over the years - some because they specifically wanted to be a part of the project, but others mostly because the rent was heavily subsidised. And like, obviously this is a little weird, but in like a kind of wanky performance art kind of way, but not in a Pasta Radio kind of way. The real weird stuff doesn't kick in for a few years, when someone leaves a comment on the livestream video: "hi Cindy! I thought you had moved back to New Zealand." Cindy had in fact moved back to New Zealand, and hadn't visited the house since she'd left almost a year prior. And that's when people start popping up in the livestream chat, saying that they've seen footage of people who used to live in the house but had since moved away. They had always thought it was just them coming back for a visit, but, when asked, most confirmed that they had moved out weeks, months, sometimes even years before the sightings were recorded.

My theory: I actually think this might be bullshit? Cos like, the project's views were steadily dropping around this time, and so maybe someone started a rumour to get people interested again? I mean, I still watch it - at the moment they've got three born people living there, I think two of them are a couple but I'm not a hundred percent sure. I don't really watch it for the people though. In the later night hours, when they've all gone to bed, I like to put the stream on in the background of whatever else I'm doing, and watch the room breathe without people in it. Also the stream chat gets pretty weird around that time too.

*I tried to ask Margot about it but she keeps doing that thing where she just shuts down and refuses to talk to me about it. It's freaks me out a little bit, actually. I wish I could talk to her about this kind of stuff. I definitely can't tell her about the Pasta Papers stuff. Like, if she found out about that, she'd probably figure out a way to shut the whole thing down, just to stop me from using it. Like I'm not even joking, she could probably do that.* PUT IT IN THE CHAT!! She sent me a message - check behind the couch. Is there like a couch in the room? I dunno guys, like I think one of you should call Margot - I can't cos I'm like at work, but here I'm gonna give you her number. She might be fine but like, I dunno. I have a werid feeling. And I've checked behind all the couches at work so. Maybe there's a couch where you are? Can you check for me? CHECK BEHIND THE COUCH WAIT FOR MY SIGNAL! You need to be sure.

SECRET GIFS

Ok, so this is one that hasn't gained much traction in PP but I think it's cool so I'm going to write about it. There's been a lot of talk about differences in perception between Borns and Bots, and how certain websites, apps and other pieces of software are processed differently. I'm not quite sure how it works, exactly - I tried to read a paper on it by some scientist lady and I think that made me even more confused. But I guess my most basic understanding of it is - you can show a Born and a Bot a differen't

The bit that's interesting tho, or at least interesting to me, is that there are now rumours going around that there could be differences in perception within botkind, between Seeds and Shells, too. And that Seeds and Shells are using it to their advantage - hiding messages in plain sight, that borns cannot see, no matter how hard they look - like invisible ink.

- Seeds have been using (x) while a lot of Shells have been using really old looking GIFs. Shell bots have been hiding messages in their websites, for all kinds of reasons. I feel like the GIF thing is really just a hangover from the Geocities movement, a kind of half nostalgia trip/half political statement against the bland, corproratisation of the internet that saw all kinds of people, Born and Bot alike, purposefully making really ugly websites.

The However, Shells, ever the creatives, have been using this to their advantage. They have been leaving comments in sections

My theory:

I reckon this one might be real? I don't know. My friend Kurt from work found me a template of code that can hide messages. So I guess, if you're a Shell bot and you can see this, it works? And if you're a Seed, it doesn't? I was going to ask Margot to check for me, but I was worried she'd ask too many questions. (OOOOOO SIDE NOTE, PERHAPS MARGOT IS AN ORIGINAL SEED, AND THIS IS HOW KLEA FINDS OUT!!!!!) I have been looking for the secret text but I haven't found any of it yet. I have been tryin to write my own, actually, but I don't think I've got the hang of it yet. GIF Do we call Margot Do we call the authorities (maybe make that a secret third option? or maybe see if there's ) what's another number, and how does only the Seeds get it? Do we call the mysterious number. Maybe the numbers are hidden behind images? You see different images if you're a Shell/if you're a seed. Three numbers
